I started HealthCare Resources in 2006 because I saw how overwhelming it could be for English-speaking patients to navigate the healthcare system in Mexico. Finding the right physician, understanding the process, and knowing where to turn for help can be difficult, especially when you’re worried about your health.
After years of working with physicians, hospitals, and the local healthcare system, I know how important communication, trust, and personal support can be. When someone arrives at a hospital frightened, uncertain, and far from home, I want them to know they have someone they can turn to.
HealthCare Resources is an independent referral and coordination service. We are not employed by a single hospital. Our role is to help you find appropriate medical care based on your needs and to guide you through the process.

Insurance in Mexico, explained – Healthcare in Puerto Vallarta
We don’t sell insurance, but after 20+ years we know which policies work here and which don’t.
Does US Medicare or Canadian coverage work in Mexico?
No. Neither US Medicare nor Canadian government coverage is accepted in Mexico. Visitors should buy a good travel insurance policy, and residents need a policy that is widely accepted at private hospitals.
Can you help me get reimbursed by my insurance?
Yes. We help you prepare and organize your claim, including medical records, translations and receipts, so you can submit it to your insurer for reimbursement.
What's the difference between public and private healthcare here?
Mexico's public system (IMSS, ISSSTE and IMSS-Bienestar) mainly serves people who are enrolled through work or registration, and services are in Spanish with longer wait times. Most English-speaking residents and visitors use private hospitals and doctors, paid directly or through private insurance. That is the network we work with every day.
Can you recommend air evacuation or long-term coverage?
